Secondary Department Saturday Morning Tea
September 9, 2017
A Saturday morning tea was held last September 9, 2017. It was exclusively prepared for the grade 10 students and parents to get more acquainted with both the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) and Cambridge International Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced Levels. A follow-up of the general discipline guidelines of the school was disseminated as well.

The Secondary Academic Director has presented the detailed explanation for both programmes, which were divided in the following sections:
-
Introduction of both the IB DP and Cambridge AS and A Levels – where both parents and students were immersed to both SGIA’s international curriculums
-
Similarities and difference of the programmes – where the main strengths of both programmes were emphasised
-
An open forum - which allowed to parents to express their queries to both the programmes
A second session immediately followed where Mr. Ismail Sumantri tackled the IB DP application process. Under this discussion, he elaborated the following:
-
The essential terms and conditions to be accepted to SGIA’s IB DP
-
Subjects that the school offers
-
Suggested subjects based on university requirements
-
and the subject application timeline to both pogrammes
A ‘Q & A’ session was held after, where both the parents and students expressed queries and confirmation regarding both programmes.

Concluding session was a sort of a pop quiz where the speaker asked random questions to the audience about the topics discussed. Canteen lunch vouchers were given as a sort of motivation.
We are expressing our warmest gratitude to all who attended the sessions. Your presence is highly appreciated and has proven the priority you gave to your children’s education. We’ll see you again soon.
