Learning Beyond the Classroom:
Grade 4 Visits BMKG

On 6 October 2026, Grade 4 students from Sekolah Global Indo Asia (SGIA) visited BMKG Hang Nadim Batam as part of their Unit of Inquiry under the theme How We Organize Ourselves.

During the visit, students learned about different types of clouds and the difference between weather and climate. The BMKG staff explained how BMKG monitors weather, climate, earthquakes, and other natural events. Students discovered how BMKG provides weather forecasts and early warnings to help people prepare for natural hazards and reduce risks. They also learned how weather conditions, such as thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rain, can affect flight safety and why accurate weather information is important for pilots.

This visit connected to the central idea, “Understanding the continually changing nature of the Earth contributes to human existence.” Students learned how changes in the Earth's atmosphere can affect people's lives and how BMKG helps people understand these changes and prepare for their possible effects.

SGIA would like to express its sincere gratitude to BMKG staff, Ibu Rayi and Bapak Rony, for sharing their knowledge and providing our Grade 4 students with this valuable learning experience.
