Grade 3 PYP Students Explore Different
Places of Worship

Five places of worship, countless opportunities to learn!
Where do people go to pray, reflect and celebrate their faith? What makes each place of
worship unique, and what can we learn from the beliefs and traditions of others?
These questions came to life for our Grade 3 PYP students as they set off on an exciting
educational field trip to visit five different places of worship: a Catholic church, a Christian church, a Buddhist temple, a Hindu temple and a mosque.
Stepping beyond the classroom, students became curious explorers, observing their
surroundings, asking questions and discovering how different religious communities express their beliefs and practise their faith. Each visit offered a new opportunity to make connections, explore similarities and differences, and develop a deeper appreciation of the diversity within their community.
The experience provided a meaningful connection to their PYP learning, encouraging
students to approach different beliefs and traditions with curiosity, open-mindedness and respect.
Throughout the field trip, students learned that places of worship are more than buildings; they are meaningful spaces where people gather to pray, reflect, celebrate and connect with their communities.
By learning about different religions and traditions firsthand, our young inquirers
strengthened their understanding that respecting differences and appreciating others are important steps towards building a more inclusive and harmonious community.
It was a valuable learning experience that reminded us of all that curiosity opens the door to understanding, and understanding helps bring people together.
