On Friday, September 28th 2018, the Grade 10 students assembled in the cafeteria to prepare for their annual performance. They performed with the goal of displaying their talents to the student body, to inspire their fellow students, to entertain, and to show us what they are capable of.
The students prepared seven performances: six dances and one song, with the theme of “how the media works”. The students lined up to perform the first dance, “Be Our Guest” from the movie Beauty and the Beast. Yusuf Novandes walked to the center of the stage as Lumiere, the host for the evening. After the eventful dance, the students separated to the sides as the next group rushed to the stage to perform their next dance, “Black and White”. The point of this dance was to show that skin color doesn’t matter. Ezekiel Lagman lead the dance to loud cheers and whistles as he yet again performed a spectacular dance. As the song ended, nine girls stepped onto the stage in a formation that would perhaps appear meaningless unless you’re a Once (Twice fan). “Dance The Night Away” started playing from the speakers, and the girls danced. The dance ended with the girls forming a V to applause.

Next up were the boys from both classes who entered the stage clad in their white uniforms. They began to dance to “Jumpshot” by Darwin; although the performance wasn’t completely in sync, they did their best and the results showed their effort. The next performance was “River”. Delfia Fan and Famke Krijnen presented a powerful performance with simple yet dynamic moves. Before the final dance, two students acted out one of Tokopedia’s ads. The crowd laughed along as the boys hugged it out in the middle of the stage.
As they exited, the crowd grew silent as the seven iconic boys took their positions on the stage; the crowd began to cheer in anticipation. The music began to play – “Burning Up” by the popular K-Pop group BTS. The audience’s cheers grew louder as they knew that these boys will literally burn the stage. They started the dance with powerful dance moves and on-point synchronization that astonished the audience. As they neared the end of the dance, most of the audience began to calm but the ‘BTS Army’ (BTS fans) in the crowd knew that it wasn’t over just yet. As the music reached its climax the boys performed dance moves that amazed the crowd. Five of the boys jumped off the stage to say their final goodbyes as the entire class entered the stage as the boys closed their dance.
With that, the Grade 10 students formed their lines to bow as once again, Yusuf took the stage to convey gratitude and appreciation to the audience for coming to watch.
