Ideas in Action: Highlights from TEDxYouth@SGIA 2026
On January 30, 2026, SGIA proudly hosted TEDxYouth@SGIA for the second time after 5 years. This event was an initiative of SGIA’s HMCA comMUNicators’ Club. TEDxYouth created a platform where students came together to share ideas, challenge perspectives, and engage in meaningful discussions. The event brought together members of the school community to listen, reflect, and learn through a series of student-led talks. Each presentation was aligned with the TEDx mission of spreading ideas worth sharing and encouraging intellectual curiosity.
The event opened with a short welcoming address by Ibu Indah Salazar, our Chief Operating Officer, setting a focused and reflective atmosphere for the day. This was followed by a sequence of TEDx-style talks delivered by 15 student speakers ranging from grade 8, 10, 11, 12, even an alumna, each addressing a unique topic with confidence and insight. The talks included “The Mathematics of Enough,” which explored how numbers and decision-making influence balance in life; “The Hidden Biology of Change,” which examined how biological processes shape growth and adaptation; “Is 16 Too Late?” which questioned societal expectations placed on young people; and “What Is Love?” which offered a thoughtful reflection on one of the most fundamental human emotions – to name few. Together, these talks demonstrated the speakers’ ability to connect academic concepts with real-world experiences.
Throughout the event, the audience remained highly engaged, listened attentively and responded with enthusiasm and reflection. The multimedia room provided an intimate setting that allowed speakers to connect closely with their audience, creating an environment where ideas could be shared openly and respectfully. The smooth transitions between talks and the supportive atmosphere further contributed to the success of the event.
Beyond the talks themselves, TEDxYouth@SGIA also encouraged dialogue beyond the stage. Students were inspired to continue conversations with their peers and teachers, exchanging viewpoints and reflecting on the ideas presented. The event fostered an environment where questioning, curiosity, and open-mindedness were valued, allowing participants to see familiar topics from new perspectives and consider how these ideas could be applied in their own lives.
TEDxYouth@SGIA 2026 highlighted SGIA’s commitment to fostering critical thinking, creativity, and confident communication among its students. It reinforced the importance of giving young voices a platform to express their ideas and perspectives. The event showed that impactful conversations do not require large-scale productions, but rather a community willing to listen, reflect, and grow together. Through thoughtful presentations and shared moments of insight, TEDxYouth@SGIA left a lasting impression on all who attended and will soon reach a global audience when all TEDx videos become available on YouTube.
