Grade 3 Students Explore the Future of Work Through an Inspiring Guest Speaker Session

On Friday, 28th November, our Grade 3 students took an exciting step forward in their inquiry into How We Organize Ourselves through a highly engaging guest speaker session led by Mr. Febri Murdani, father of 3A student Barack. As part of our ongoing unit on how technological innovations shape the future of livelihood, this session offered students a unique opportunity to learn directly from someone working at the forefront of global technology.

Mr. Febri provided an insightful look into the ever-evolving world of work through his experience at Meta, one of the world’s most influential technology companies. He began by introducing students to the wide range of careers within Meta—from software engineering and product design to safety operations, research, and community management—highlighting how collaboration across these roles drives innovation on a global scale.

Throughout his presentation, he emphasised the skills necessary to thrive in a tech-driven workforce. Students learned about the importance of creativity, critical thinking, adaptability, digital literacy, and strong communication skills. Mr. Febri also explained how emerging technologies continue to reshape industries, creating not only new kinds of jobs but also opportunities for individuals to develop new talents and passions.

The session sparked tremendous curiosity among the students. They actively engaged in discussion, asking thoughtful questions about the future of virtual reality, how social media platforms operate, and the responsibilities of technology companies in keeping people safe online. Their questions reflected deep connections to our lines of inquiry and an increasing understanding of how organizations function in a rapidly changing world. Mr. Febri was an ideal speaker to engage the student’s curiosity about the current tech-sphere and to encourage their speculation about its future direction.

For many students, hearing real-world examples made abstract concepts feel more accessible and meaningful. They began to see how technological innovations affect daily life, influence the way communities interact, and open doors to new possibilities for learning and working.

This guest speaker experience proved to be a rich and inspiring learning opportunity—one that not only broadened students’ perspectives but also empowered them to imagine their own roles in the future of work. As our inquiry continues, this session will serve as a strong foundation for further exploration, reflection, and skill-building.
