Grade 2 Celebrates Learning Through Performance
The Grade 2 students proudly presented their Variety Show and Celebration of Learning as the culmination of their Unit of Inquiry under the transdisciplinary theme How We Express Ourselves. Throughout the unit, students explored how performances could communicate ideas, emotions, and messages in meaningful and creative ways.
Guided by the central idea, “Performance acts as a powerful tool capable of influencing feelings and ideas,” students discovered that music, dance, drama, storytelling, and movement could inspire, entertain, and connect people. Through various performances, students demonstrated confidence, creativity, communication, and collaboration while expressing themselves in unique ways.
The celebration showcased how performances could tell stories, share emotions, and encourage audiences to think and feel differently. Students explored different forms of expression through singing, dancing, drama, storytelling, music, and movement-based performances, highlighting the many ways people could communicate beyond words.
The event also reflected the students’ growth as communicators and risk-takers as they confidently performed in front of an audience. Through preparation and collaboration, students developed a deeper appreciation of the arts and how performances could bring communities together.
The Variety Show and Celebration of Learning was a joyful and meaningful experience that celebrated not only student talent, but also the power of performance as a way to express ideas, emotions, and connections with others.
