Beliefs

“Our personal beliefs shape who we are” is the Central Idea of the fifth UOI in Grade 3 under the Transdisciplinary Theme of Who We Are. Various beliefs and interpretations from diverse cultures, values, and traditions were discussed and explored throughout this UOI to reinforce and comprehend the central idea with the key concepts; Connection, Form, and Perspective. Visiting the six different worship places here in Batam helped the students to explore and deepen their understanding of different beliefs in Catholicism, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Kong Hu Tzu, and Islam. Every worship places they had visited has given enough information they need. This field trip had enriched the students’ conception of different beliefs in every religion. After the third-day field trip, their Religion teachers got involved and made the learning engagement more engaging for the students. They enlightened and made explicit explanation and provide time for students to inquire towards the dissimilarities of the religious points of view.
