Grade 2 Assembly: How We Organize Ourselves

Blue Sky View

On Friday, 9 October 2026, the Grade 2 students proudly presented their assembly about Cities, connected to the transdisciplinary theme “How we organize ourselves”. Their central idea was: “Cities consist of interconnected services, goods and systems to meet the needs of urban communities.”

Through their performances, the students shared their understanding of how goods, services, and public systems work together to support people living in a city.

The assembly began with a lively dance to “Where Do You Live?” The students then performed a meaningful pantun and song about caring for Batam, reminding us that taking care of our city is everyone’s responsibility.

The students also presented a drama, “A Day in a City,” where they showed how different public services work together to keep a city safe, organised, and running smoothly.

The audience enjoyed a pianica performance and singing about community helpers. The studentsalso presented a Mandarin drama, “Where Do I Put My Things?” Through this performance, they showed how organising our belongings, following routines, and knowing where things belong can help us work more efficiently and keep our surroundings organised. This connected to the transdisciplinary theme by showing that organisation and systems are also important in our everyday lives.

Our expatriate students added to the celebration by performing traditional Indonesian songs and dances, showing the cultural diversity of our school community.

The assembly ended with an energetic dance to “We’re All in This Together”. This final
performance highlighted the importance of teamwork, cooperation, and working together.

Throughout the assembly, the Grade 2 students demonstrated their communication,
collaboration, and creative thinking skills.
They showed their growing understanding that a city depends on people, goods, services, and systems working together to meet the needs of the community.

It was a wonderful celebration of learning, culture, and teamwork. The students reminded us that everyone has a role to play in keeping our communities organised and making our city a better place to live.
