Our Amazing Bodies: Exploring How Our Body Systems Work Together
Our Grade 4 students recently had their assembly focusing on the Unit of Inquiry Who We Are focused on understanding how our body systems work together to support our health and well-being.

The unit was introduced through an engaging assembly that encouraged students to think about a fascinating question: “What happens inside our bodies every day to keep us alive, active, and healthy?”
Students were introduced to some of the major body systems, including the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems. They discovered that while each system has its own important role, no system works completely on its own. Instead, our body systems are closely connected and depend on one another to keep our bodies functioning properly.
Throughout this Unit of Inquiry, students explored our body systems, investigated the interdependence between different systems, and considered the factors that can affect how our systems function. They also explored how making healthy choices such as eating nutritious food, staying physically active, getting enough sleep, drinking water, and maintaining good hygiene can contribute to our overall physical health and well-being.
The assembly sparked curiosity and encouraged students to become “body detectives”, asking questions about what happens inside their bodies when they run, eat, sleep, breathe, or even feel excited.
Throughout the unit, students had opportunities to investigate, collaborate, research, and make connections between their learning and their everyday lives. Most importantly, they developed a deeper understanding that taking care of our bodies can support the health and function of our body systems as a whole.
What a wonderful celebration of learning as our students discovered just how beautifully connected and amazing the human body truly is.
