Honouring 81 Years of Indonesian Independence
A celebration of independence, unity, and our shared hopes for the future.
On 17 August, the Sekolah Global Indo-Asia community came together for a meaningful Independence Day Ceremony, proudly commemorating 81 years of Indonesian independence.
The ceremony was a special opportunity for our students, teachers, and staff to honour Indonesia’s remarkable journey while reflecting on the values that continue to shape the nation. With a strong sense of pride, unity, and gratitude, the SGIA community gathered to celebrate this important national milestone.
Guided by this year’s theme, “Indonesia Berdaulat, Adil, dan Makmur,” the celebration reminded us that independence is not only about remembering the past, but also about looking ahead and recognising our shared responsibility to contribute to a stronger, fairer, and more prosperous Indonesia.
For our students, moments such as these provide meaningful opportunities to connect with the history and values of the country they call home. They remind us that every individual, regardless of age, has a role to play in building a positive future through kindness, responsibility, respect, and active contribution to the community.
As we celebrate 81 years of independence, may the spirit of Merdeka continue to inspire our SGIA community to stand together, dream boldly, embrace diversity, and make a meaningful difference in the world around us.
