What will the world of work look like in 2050? Will robots take over our jobs? What skills will we need in a rapidly changing world? Our Grade 3 learners explored these exciting questions during their inspiring PYP Assembly, “WORK in 2050: Our Future, Our Skills.”

​Connected to their How We Organize Ourselves unit, the assembly took the audience on an engaging journey through the past, present, and future of work, exploring how technology, innovation, and new skills are transforming the way people work and live.

 

From the Past to the Future

Through creative skits and lively performances, students brought the evolution of jobs to life, showing how professions such as doctors, typists, and factory workers have changed over time. Their performances reminded us that the world of work is constantly evolving.

Automation: Challenge Meets Opportunity

With dramatic performances and thoughtful storytelling, the students explored the impact of automation in the workplace. They showed how machines can change traditional jobs while also creating new opportunities—and why being adaptable and resilient is essential for the future.

 

Humans vs. AI

One of the highlights was an entertaining Humans vs. AI challenge, where students demonstrated the strengths of both. While artificial intelligence can process information quickly and efficiently, the students highlighted uniquely human qualities such as empathy, creativity, imagination, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making.

 

Careers of Tomorrow

The journey continued with project showcases and light-hearted roleplays introducing audiences to emerging digital careers. Students also highlighted the importance of digital literacy, online safety, fact-checking, and responsible innovation in an increasingly connected world.

 

Working With Technology

The assembly concluded with an important message: the future is not about competing with technology—it is about learning how to work with it.

Our Grade 3 learners showed that preparing for the future is not simply about knowing how to use new technology. It is about remaining curious, adaptable, creative, responsible, and ready to keep learning.
