From Questions to Actionss:
Grade 5 PYP Exhibition 2025

The Grade 5 students of Sekolah Global Indo-Asia marked a significant milestone in their learning journey with their PYP Exhibition under the theme "From Questions to Actions." This Exhibition celebrated the culminating experience of their final year in the Primary Years Programme (PYP), a meaningful transition as they prepare tomove forward into the next phase of their education.

Throughout this experience, students explored issues and concerns from their own lives, their communities, and the wider world — topics that truly mattered to them. Their inquiries reflected deep personal interests and a strong sense of social responsibility. This year, 13 dynamic groups engaged in thoughtful investigations on a range of pressing global and local issues: Food Waste, Bullying, Mental Health, Cancer, FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), Gender Equality, Social Media Addiction, Poverty, Inflation, Child Labour, Peace and War, Game Addiction, and Water Pollution.

The exhibition journey was filled with both triumphs and challenges. During the planning and research phase, students faced real-world difficulties: finding reliable resources, reading and analyzing both printed and digital articles, conducting surveys, interviewing experts, going on field trips, gathering and interpreting data, taking notes, and summarizing their findings. Every step demanded persistence, adaptability, and critical thinking.

As the presentation days (April 24–25, 2025) approached, another layer of challenges emerged. Students worked diligently to design and assemble their exhibition boards, making sure they displayed the essential information clearly and creatively. With the support of their advisers, mentors, and co-mentors, each group successfully brought their inquiries to life.

Throughout the Exhibition process, students developed a wide range of Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, including:

  • Research skills (formulating questions, collecting data, evaluating sources),

  • Communication skills (sharing information clearly, listening respectfully),

  • Social skills (collaborating with peers, negotiating roles),

  • Self-management skills (planning tasks, organizing time, staying focused),

  • Thinking skills (analyzing information, making connections, solving problems).

One of the highlights of the Exhibition was how each group designed engaging activities to involve their audience. They didn't just inform — they inspired action. Activities included creating pledges for peace, meal planning to reduce food waste, daily expense tracking charts, handing out brochures and bookmarks for awareness, fundraising for less fortunate families and national cancer organizations, designing awareness posters, and even crafting handmade keychains as reminders for positive change.

More than just a display of knowledge, the PYP Exhibition was a testament to the students’ understanding that learning must lead to action. It  taught  them  that  they  have  the  power  and  responsibility  to  make  a positive impact — not only in their own lives but in their communities and the world beyond.

As the students concluded their journey, one powerful quote perfectly captures the spirit of their Exhibition:

"Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world." – Howard Zinn
