SGIA 20th Anniversary

2018 marks our 20th anniversary. We take the opportunity to look ahead to the future, examining the past, and honored the legacy of the school.

Started in 1998 in a house with a small playground, SGIA was born, moved to a bigger place in 2002 to accommodate the increasing number of students then permanently settled to its current building in 2004, and the rest is what we call history.

The 20th anniversary was a 3-day (November 29 to December 1, 2018) fun-filled and educational celebration where the entire SGIA community participated; students, teachers, staff and parents alike.

The first day was the drone shot of the school where the entire student body and teachers spelled SGIA all clad in white followed by the recorded yell of every acronym letter of the school and the final cheer of everybody ‘OUR SCHOOL, OUR FUTURE.

The second day focused mainly on our students; “Picnic and Poetry Day,” students were grouped according to siblings (from K3 to grade 12) and according to house (Blue Tiger, Green Rhino, Red Eagle and Yellow Komodo), each group is composed of 5-6 students to express the composed poetry (done by the senior students) in an artistic form in an A2 paper. Great collaboration among the juniors and the seniors took place. The seniors took the responsibility of taking good care of the members of their respective groups by guiding them, bringing the snack bags and even providing tissues to wipe the chocolate mark left by the choco bread. Simple thing yet expresses a lot that our seniors possess the caring nature to their ‘younger siblings.’

The third and the final celebration took place in SwissBel Hotel dedicated for parents where the school invited guest speakers; Dr. Capri Anjaya SPD, M. Hum., an experienced advisor of SPK and Mr. Daniel Yeo, a mindfulness coach. Both speakers graced the celebration their expertise in their respective fields complimenting each other talks. The celebration concluded with the symbolic birthday cake cutting led by the members of the Yayasan Clarissa International and SGIA’s COO, Ibu Indah Salazar.
